Law College Dehradun, Uttaranchal Institute of Technology and Uttaranchal Institute of Management have been merged into Uttaranchal University. The University came into existence vide Uttaranchal University Act 2012 (Uttarakhand Act No 11 of 2013) Government of Uttarakhnad . Now this group of institutions will be known as the Uttaranchal University.

Welcome to Law College Dehradun

Law College Dehradun commands the enviable position of being in the league of leading law college in Dehradun and India. The college has earned many laurels to its credit. It has pioneered the 5-years BA.LL.B integrated under graduate course in northern region of India, it is the first independent Law College and the first college in the state of Uttarakhand to get Bar Council of India’s approval to run LL.M degree course.

Law College Dehradun has glorious past and promising future prospects. A large number of its alumni occupy distinguished positions in the legal professions in the country and abroad. The students of Law College Dehradun have been consecutively scoring top most positions in the university examinations and securing Gold Medals. Many former students of Law College Dehradun have cracked the All India Judicial Services and the State Judicial Services examination. A college that has innovated Legal Education and created new career options.

Law College Dehradun was founded in the year 2002 with the aim of providing quality education in law. We pioneered the five year BA.LL.B integrated degree course in Uttarakhand.

His Excellency Shri Surjeet Singh Barnala the then Governor of Uttarakhand inaugurated the college in a graceful ceremony. The other dignitaries   present on the occasion were, Dr.Ramesh Pokhriya 'Nishank',the present  Chief Minister of the State,   Mr. Aggrawal, then Vice President, Bar council of India, Mr. Suryakant Dhasmana and other distinguished people from various fields.

Shri Barnala hoped that the College will live up to the expectation of the students-community, parents and the society at large.

Inaugurating the Law College Dehradun on 8th October, 2002, His Excellency Shri Surjit Singh Barnala, the then Governor of Uttarakhand complimented the students on choosing the law degree courses and said... "There is still  need for good lawyers."  

In over a decade we have redeemed our pledge to make Law College Dehradun the premier college of the region.

  Law College Dehradun organised National Parliamentary Debate on 2nd and 3rd March 2013. A large number of students representing various universities/colleges around the country participated in the event.

Law College Dehradun becomes the examination centre for 4 All India Bar Council Examination, mandatory qualifying examination for lawyers to get the registration from the Bar Council of India to practice at the Bar. The examination was held on 9th December 2012.
Law college Dehradun organised blood donation camp on the occasion of Law Day. His Excellency, the governor of Uttarakhand Dr. Aziz Qureshi was the chief guest at this occasion, Ranjeet Singh, the chairman of Red Cross Society Uttarakhand branch, the chairman of Law College, the director of Law college and the principal were also present at this occasion. A large number of Law College, UIT and UIM students donated blood. His Excellency, the governor of the state released the Dehradun Law Journal of the college. The law review is published in the form of Wall Journal, Web Journal and Book Journal.
The college hosted the Model United Nation( LCD MUN 2012) competition. Delegates from different universities and Law schools around the country participated in the competition. Marathon conference sessions on the international conflicts were held to find solution to the problems.
Anita Kumar Gangar the alumni of the college cracked the Provisional Civil services (Judicial) Examination conducted by Uttarakhand Public Service Commission. Anita was felicitated by the chairman Mr. Jitendra Joshi, the principal, faculty and the students of Law College. Anita Kumar had passed B.A. LL.B degree course in first division.
Richa Kotiyal the alumnus of the college has passed the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission for the post of Associate Planning Officer. The management and the staff of Law College congratulate Richa.
The college is organising National Parliamentary Debate Competition in the month of March. A number of participants around the country and abroad have already submitted their registration form to participate in the event. For further details log on to
