Legal Research Foundation of Law college
inaugurated
Law College Dehradun setup Legal Research
Foundation, which is the first of its kind in the
state of Uttarakhand. The Research Foundation would
provide reference books, study material, Internet
based resources to our students, research scholars
and advocates for investigative study of Law. The
Foundation is fully equipped to meet the demand of
the students for investigative study of Law .
The Legal Research Foundation was inaugurated by
Hon'ble justice M.M. Ghildiyal of Uttarakhand High
Court Nainital.
At this occasion Gopeshwar Law
Review , a Law Journal edited by Dr. A.K. Kantroo,
principal of Gopeshwar Law College was also
released. Dr.(Miss) Sudha Pande, member of State
Public Service Commission, Mr. V.B. Rai, District &
Session Judge Dehradun also graced the occasion. The
event was attended by management, staff and the
students of Law College.
A student
of law who aspires to be a lawyer and not merely
pass law examinations must learn to use legal
materials. He should be proficient in acquiring the
habit of first
hand
work among sources. Along with knowledge of law
reports and statute books, a law student should be
familiar with the library as a whole with its
paraphernalia of catalogues and books of reference.
The library of Law College Dehradun was elevated to
the status of Legal Research Centre in 2008. It was
inaugurated by Justice Mr. M.M. Ghildiyal then a
judge of Uttarakhand High Court. The wide library
resources offer the students an open access to book
and journals. The scholars are assisted by research
staff to locate literature and information
pertaining to their areas of research, general
reference, and current awareness. The research
center has computerized catalogue and welcomes not
only its own students to access but also Ph.D.
students of different universities to use
information resources.
Library staff encourages the students to make
maximum utilization of available resources. Since
the Law College campus is Wi-Fi enabled campus our
students have easy access to information directly
from computerized data base.
Objective of Research Centre To provide effective
information not only about law but also about other
disciplines. To make reference books. Text books,
notes etc available for further source of effective
learning.
Library
The study of Law is a gigantic exercise. Library
forms an essential part of the pursuit of law
academics in Law College Dehradun; library has been
planned and developed by a team of qualified library
staff. The ground floor of Academic block has been
devoted to the library resource with all the
state-of the-art facilities, Wi-Fi connection, CD
ROMs, and vast collection of Volumes covering a wide
range of subjects of Law, Political Science,
Sociology, History and English, Reference Books,
back volumes of Journals AIR and Legal periodicals.
On line legal research through ‘Manupatra’
College has subscribed for corporate plan of
Manupatra. Being in Wi-Fi campus the students may
access to Manupatra by sitting in any corner of the
college campus.

Print Collection
The Library is well stocked having excellent
collection of text and reference books on Law and
other subjects. Library subscribes
National/International
journals, reports and periodicals on Law. It has a
rare collection of All India Reporter since 1914,
Indian Bar Review, Supreme Court Cases, Supreme Law
Today, Criminal Law Journal, Journal of Indian Law
Institute, Indian Journal of International Law,
Company Law Cases, Lucknow Law Times, Uttaranchal
Cases, Dehradun Law Review etc.
Library Automation
Library is well arranged. All operations of the
library are automated with the help of library
software LIBSYS. On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC)
to the users for database search.
